May 1st Mix It Up Challenge

 Here we are at the first of May and time for another Mix It Up Challenge!   Our challenge this time is inlaid die cutting.  If you're not familiar with that technique, it's a bit like a jigsaw puzzle.  You diecut your elements and then piece them back together inside the negative area of your first die cut.

Here is my card for the challenge:


To begin this card, I embossed a 4" x 5.25" piece of white cardstock with a diagonal stitch embossing folder.  Then I placed the three daisy dies onto that piece and cut them out.  I ink blended shades of yellow onto the diecut daisies and then placed them back into the negative space of the white embossed cardstock piece.  The flower centers were diecut and placed on top, then I added a stamped sentiment strip and a diecut "hello" sentiment.  The "hello" sentiment was also inlaid by cutting the shadow part from ink blended cardstock and the word from black cardstock and then piecing them together.  The nice thing about the inlaid die cutting technique, is that you end up with a nice flat card for mailing, but with the effect of added dimension.  

Here's a second card made with the same technique.  The difference is that after doing the inlaid die cut technique with the daisies, I laid the word die overtop and cut it out, then cut it out of black cardstock and inlaid the sentiment.

Final Day of the Build Your Holiday Stash Spring link up party

 It's Day 7 of the Build Your Holiday Stash Spring linky party, which means it's the last day to join in.


Here's my card for Day 7.  


The poinsettia and sentiment stamps are from Divinity Designs.  The pine boughs are from Spellbinders and the lacy rectangle dies are from Gina Marie Designs.  I added a touch of gold glitter Nuvo drops to the flower center for a subtle bit of sparkle.

Build Your Holiday Stash - Day 6 of the Spring Link Up

 Day 6 of the Build Your Holiday Stash Spring link up is here!



For my card today, I used the Gina K Wreath Builder template and the Holiday Wreath Builder stamp set.


I added a few tiny gold and clear gems and a layered bow, die cut in gold and red.  The wreath builder really makes it easier to create a circular design or a wreath for any season.

Some stenciled Christmas cards

 It's Day 6 of the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers Spring link up.  


Today I have three cards to share.  They are all made with one layering stencil set from Taylored Expressions.  This is a triple slim stencil set that gives you three cards at one time.


I added some gold splatter to the card base behind the poinsettia card front.  On the other two cards, I added some different colors and sizes of pearls for embellishments.  It's really nice to do one bit of stenciling and end up with three different cards!





Build Your Holiday Stash Spring Link up - Day 5

Just a few more days left for the Build Your Holiday Stash Spring linkup!   


I made this card for Day 5 of the linkup, but didn't quite get it finished yesterday, so it's a day late.


I used two older Lawn Fawn stamp sets for this one, and fussy cut the images after coloring with Copic markers.  The background was heat embossed in white for the stars and snow.  I added some little clay Christmas pinwheels to the roof line of the house.

Another snowman Christmas card

 I made a second card with the Pink & Main/Stamptember snowman set.  This one is for the Sparkles Christmas Card challenge #159 of "non traditional colors" and the Build Your Holiday Stash Spring linkup.



The snowman and cup image was colored with Olo markers.  I added some white gel pen polka dots to the cup.  The background frame die is from Reverse Confetti.  I used foam adhesive to pop up the snowman image and tucked some large snowflake sequins around the edges of the inside frame.  I love these bright colors, with the pink, lime green and turquoise with the red.  



Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers - Spring Link up Day 4

 Another day in the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers Spring Linkup!


I used a Pink & Main stamp/die set for my card today.  (This was a collaboration with Simon Says Stamp for their Stamptember event.)  I just loved the little marshmallow snowmen in this set!


The snow people were all colored with Olo markers.  The background die is from Scrapbook and Cards Today and the snowbank frame die is from Mama Elephant.  I added some clear Stickles to the snowdrifts and some foam adhesive to the top parts of the snow people for a little dimension.
